Some tech tidbits on white coil pickups:
For those wondering why late production white Rhodes pickups are failing at an astronomical rate - in short the flux used when the pickup coil wires were soldered to the terminal posts actually corrodes and eats through the wire!  There are also some red pickups from late production instruments (late 1978-1980) that also suffer the same problem. In addition, the corrosion is accelerated if the piano was stored in a damp or humid location.

For the enthusiasts seeking an exact 1:1 look without the fuss we wrap earlier production coils (red or orange) with a white pickup tape, which provides the same look without the failure rate..
