Some words of wisdom on installation and tuning your replacement reed.
Be prepared for filiing and repeating the install/removal process till you've crept in on the correct pitch. This process is 100% necessary to get any leaded reed to pitch. When fine tuning (filing), remove the reed completely and work away from the piano! We cannot stress this enough! Lead solder flakes are 100% conductive, these microscopic flakes can and will create short circuits, short out pickups, creating un-neccesary damage. It's wise to file over a trash can and nowhere near the piano. Inspect reeds for loose solder chards which may potentially break free, clean the reeds with alcohol before reinstalling.  The "knife edge" on the reedbar should also be clean, 90% ISO alcohol and lint free towels are ideal for cleaning this surface. Gunk and or other impurities between the reed and the reedbar will effect performance and sustain.
